Funding Sources for School Products
Your school district’s grant writer is the most knowledgeable source of funding
options that are available for your particular school/district and would be
able to identify the most appropriate funding sources.
In case that resource is unavailable to you, we have compiled the following
ideas for you to consider as possible funding sources. For the most recent
grant and funding opportunities, please see the most
current version of OH! News, MindOH!'s monthly electronic newsletter.
Please email us
if you have recommendations for grants that would be helpful to your peers.
Federal and State Options
Title I, Part A. Title I, Part A is designed
to target students who are not only living in low-income communities, but also
those students who are at a disadvantage in becoming successful learners. The
new Title I also includes children who are not classified as poor, by
allocating funds to schools that project a rate of 50 percent poverty.
Title I, Part D. Title I, Part D provides
assistance to state agencies that operate education programs for neglected or
delinquent children in state-supported institutions, community day programs and
adult correctional institutions to supplement and improve the education
services provided to these children. It also provides assistance to local
education agencies for dropout prevention programs that meet the needs of
at-risk children and youth.
Title IV, Safe and Drug Free Schools. The
purpose of the Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities program is to support
programs that prevent violence in and around schools and the illegal use of
alcohol, tobacco, and drugs, involve parents, and coordinate these efforts and
resources with other federal, state and community entities. This includes
purchasing services, programs, curriculum, and other resources focused on
preventive measures.
Title VI, Innovative Education. Title VI of
the Improving America’s Schools Act of 1994 is a program that supports school
efforts to assess local education needs, improve the quality of instruction and
enhance student achievement.
State Comp Ed Funds. These will vary from
state to state so check with your local grant writer on the availability in
your area. Other Sources 21st Century Schools. This is a program of the
Annenburg Foundation. Please visit

After School Programs. There are a multitude
of grant opportunities supporting after school programs. Frequently these types
of funds are distributed through city and county governmental agencies. Dropout
prevention. Foundations like the Annenburg Foundation provide funding for the
prevention of dropouts.
Technology-Focused Grants. Foundations like
the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that focus on technology and education
are another resource to consider. Local and national foundations. Your grant
writer is the best resource for information on local and national foundations
who have given money to your school in the past or who might be potential
prospects for funding a program like MindOH!
PTO/PTA Activity Funds. These funds are
sometimes available for special programs like MindOH! PTO/PTAs can also be
approached about coordinating special fund-raising activities to help raise
funds. Corporate sponsors. Many schools already have corporations who have
“adopted” them and work with them on special projects.
Corporate Sponsorships. MindOH! is an
innovative, effective program that will not only provide a wide range of
positive results for your school but also could provide excellent PR value for
a corporate sponsor.
