Federal and State Standards Alignments

How MindOH! Aligns With No Child Left Behind (NCLB)

MindOH! staff are routinely asked whether or not the program is “scientifically researched based.” This question most likely stems from the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 and the ensuing mandate directing educators to consider the results of relevant scientifically based research – whenever such information is available – before making purchasing decisions. The following document was drafted by a third party researcher, Dr. Beth Manke , Associate Professor in the Human Development Department at the California State University, Long Beach.

How Character Education Aligns With Social Emotional Learning

Character Education (CE) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) are two emerging educational strategies receiving well-deserved attention as our nation faces the challenge of educating students for the 21st century. Though these two fields emerged to a large extent independently, and each is distinct from the other, there is a shared fundamental belief. Both embrace the notion that if we are to create safer schools, improve academic performance, and produce responsible and caring citizens, we must educate the whole child, head and heart.

How MindOH!'s DLSS Aligns With Social Emotional Learning

In educational circles there has recently been an effort to "enhance children's success in school and life by promoting coordinated, evidence-based social, emotional, and academic learning as an essential part of education from preschool through high school." These words are taken from the mission statement of The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL), one of the leading organizations in the field of social and emotional learning. Read a MindOH! paper on this topic.

  MindOH!'s Commitment

In 2003, MindOH! hired a third party expert to align our Discipline and Life Skills Series to the Texas state standards. While all states have different standards and interpretation of the NCLB Act, it is our commitment to align with the most current standards to make our products promote the four pillars set forth by NCLB.

  No Child Left Behind

No Child Left Behind is based on four pillars: stronger accountability for results, more freedom for states and communities, proven education methods, and more choices for parents.
