Ruben Gonzalez, Olympian, author and speaker, presents "The Four Steps to Success," a model presented in MindOH!'s Aspire to Achieve module. Ruben's dreams and perseverance to become an Olympic athlete motivated him to train and compete in the luge, and brought him to the 1988 Calgary Olympics, 1992 Albertville Olympics, and 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics.
"How does someone who did not even take up the sport of luge until he was 22 become a three-time Olympian? As I tell thousands of people in my speeches, I'm not a big shot. I'm just a little shot that keeps on shooting. I'm proof that ordinary people can aspire to achieve extraordinary things if they follow a few simple steps."

MINDOH! CASE STUDY: EDISON MIDDLE SCHOOL -- "JUST IN TIME TRAINING"
"MindOH! is a motivator for students - a motivator to do what's right," said Dan DeLeon, principal of Edison Middle School. "It sets them down and helps them come face to face with themselves, with the issues. It asks some hard questions - What did you do? What could you have done differently? What should you have done?"
"I think what the students like most about the MindOH! program is that they get to put their thoughts down, and someone is reading those thoughts, someone is listening. They get to tell their side of the story. I think that's probably the same reason the adults like the MindOH! program - they can cut through all of the other stuff and just get to the issues as to what happened, why did it happen, and then go from there."
Edison Middle School has been using MindOH! since September 2001 as part of MindOH!'s two-year Pilot study in the Houston Independent School District.
