NEW MINDOH! RESEARCH STUDY PROVES QUANTITATIVE CHARACTER EDUCATION PROGRAMS CAN ACHIEVE MEASUREABLE RESULTS AND SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVE STUDENT BEHAVIOR

 

The MindOH! team is excited to announce another milestone in the Company’s mission to develop innovative, measurable character education tools and techniques to help students make smarter choices. The 2001-2003 Program Evaluation results show that the MindOH! modules have had a significant impact.

 

• All three modules in the Series:
  • Prepared students for a more meaningful conversation with school authority,
  • Served as a mechanism for students to “calm down” emotionally, and
  • Assisted in tracking disciplinary infraction trends on school campuses.
• A control group study demonstrated that the effectiveness of the What’s Up? module in reducing emotional distress is not simply due to time.
• Seventy-three percent (73%) of students reported that they were more successful in telling their side of the story after having previously completed the What’s Up? module.
• A special analysis of repeat users of the What’s Up? module showed that the module may have long-lasting effects in reducing emotional distress.
• After completing the Respect module, 80% of students reported that they had a better understanding of the different types of respect.
• After completing the Responsibility module, almost 90% of students reported that they had a better understanding of why being responsible will get them better results.

 

MindOH! continues to offer direct support to students navigating their way through the disciplinary process. Leveraging these positive results, the Company has expanded the Discipline and Life Skills Series to a school-based application of its Education Relationship Management System (ERMS) which increases high school completion rates and decreases suspensions. A youth organization-based application of the ERMS creates a safe virtual home of resources and information – no matter where the student is located – thereby facilitating enhanced relationships between youth and their extended networks of community mentors.
